Course Overview

This comprehensive recorded course focuses on five essential criminal minor laws that form the backbone of India’s contemporary criminal justice system but are often inadequately covered in conventional legal curricula. The course is taught by Justice K. Abraham Mathew (Retd.), former Judge of the High Court of Kerala, whose teaching reflects judicial clarity, statutory interpretation, and practical courtroom insight.

The legislations covered under this course have significant social and constitutional relevance and address issues such as child protection, juvenile justice, workplace sexual harassment, domestic violence, and reformative sentencing. Through this course, learners will gain a clear understanding of legislative intent and statutory frameworks, insight into procedural aspects and implementation, discussion of important judicial interpretations, and practical perspectives relevant for litigation, examinations, and policy understanding. The course is particularly beneficial for those engaging with criminal law, gender justice, child rights, and human rights jurisprudence.

Laws Covered

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012; the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015; the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013; the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958; and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.

Assessment & Learning Evaluation

The course includes an objective test quiz that can be taken anytime during the course validity period. The quiz is designed to help learners assess and reinforce their understanding of the subject matter.

Certificate of Completion

A Certificate of Completion will be issued upon completion of at least 35 percent of the total watch duration. For a 14-hour course, this amounts to approximately 4 hours and 54 minutes of viewing. Once this minimum viewing requirement is met, the learner will become eligible for the certificate.
